The Self Muse
This piece was made two years after "Be Silent", featuring a simplified style, but representative of a survivor as a very vulnerable person, but they're on their own terms minus the covers and nipples, usually the body part that makes people see breasts as sexual. At this stage, we choose ourselves over the sensitivities of people who would like to look away, choosing to cause ripples in the flow of things. I had "Be Silent" in mind when it was drawn.
Be Silent
Be Silent was painted during the height of the attention the #MeToo movement was receiving on social media. I painted this in frustration with how we, especially women, are desired to be seen but only where it matters to men. We, people with any kind of trauma, are not meant to be spoken to, looked in the eyes, or disrupt things.
Alec
This was an experiment with foregoing rigidly sticking to color theory or abiding by "smart color choices". I used Alec Paul, previously an internet personality, from Cow Chop as the subject.
The Morningstar's Choice
The piece was painted due to my fascination with redemption, even with the embodiment of evil to Christians. Using an actor from the television show "Lucifer" as a reference, I painted his own hands burdening himself, keeping himself in his turmoil.
Ascension and the Underworld: Quetzalcoatl, "The Morningstar"
This is an interpretation of the Mesoamerican deity, Quetzalcoatl. I drew this due to their connection to divine redemption, having a story of delving into the Underworld for our creation and another of becoming The Morningstar, as well.
Here
This print was a practice with simple values. I wanted to convey the same air as a black and white, sci-fi horror film that would have been shown on "Svengoolie" when I was younger. I used the enemy known as Amygdala from the video game universe of Bloodborne.
The Lovers Fly
This was a piece in celebration of May the 4th, usually a day for fans of the Star Wars series to voice their love for it. I used it as an opportunity to demonstrate what we could have had as a proper ending to the latest trilogy, involving the same-sex attraction the two leads were playing into with the films.
A Vegan
This was an anatomy practice also meant as a joke reference to the anime, "JoJo's Bizarre Adventures". They are known for their over-the-top villains and methods of fighting, in which their fighting spirits take on physical forms to battle with them. In this case, the subject of the piece would us a vegan sausage as his fighter.
Future Injury
After an internet personality I watched injured one of his ankles in a poorly thought out skating video, I joked about some replacements. I wanted to give the painting almost a kind of extravagance as a character introduction from something Kill Bill-esque with the use of red.
Hell & Devils
The same internet personality from "The Vegan" and other works not listed here makes continual appearances. Meant as an early start to the Halloween season, I wanted to depict that unease you feel when your stomach sinks using those harsh, bright colors to give the feeling of someone finding they woke in "Hell". For "Devils", I was experimenting with different brushes and effects using the same subject.
There's also a frog, scorpion, demon thing. It was a prompt for a Halloween experiment with other artists online.
The Lion
This piece was a gift for a friend who was a fan of the Game of Thrones series. I chose to paint her in the Lannister armor that she loved the most.
The Crow Hunts
These were drawn as a raffle for a few people who participated in my on Twitter account. The winner wanted an original drawing of a Bloodborne video game character, Eileen, in a similar style I attempted in my "Here" piece that also involved an enemy character from the same universe.
The Witch Sees
This painting was meant to be introduced as a character in a short horror story that I had been writing for the Halloween season. I kept the colors harsh to give off the effect of it being an almost psychedelic rock or metal album cover.
WitchWould
This was meant to accompany the witch in "The Witch Sees" in a short story. A pensive witch discovers the many ways she could use her powers and whether she should.
The Coop
This was another experiment to try a simpler, cartoon-y style. I drew the same subject from "The Vegan" and "Hell" as a variant form of the protagonist, Link, from the video game, "Breath of the Wild".
Our Vices
Team Work
This was another style exploration of two internet personalities from the YouTube channel, Cow Chop. Because fo their consistent appearance on the internet through different social media and projects, I had a lot of opportunities to experiment and share different styles of artwork. This was meant to seem like a simplified version of the high-saturation styles of some of the Grand Theft Auto video game portraits on some promotional materials.
The Jeweled Dancer
This was a commissioned piece. The person asked to be painted in a style reminiscent of a Gustav Klimt painting. It was also fun to attempt doing so with a subject whom wasn't of such a pale complexion, a common subject in Klimt's usual work.
